After looking quite tired against the north eastern club Shillong Lajong FC , the kolkata based club Mohun Bagan AC will be facing another city club Aryans in today’s IFA Shield tie .
After a draw in their first encounter , the mariners will look forward to earn the three valuable points in the match against Aryans. Facing this relatively far lesser known team will be far from being a cakewalk for the Bagan because the same team had defeated them in the last Calcutta Premier League on their way to taming the BIG 3.
Everyone knows that Mohun Bagan is yet to win a trophy this season and this is their last chance to do so . Mohunbagan had a similar record in the year 1974 , when they failed to win a single trophy .
In the previous encounter , with Chidi and Ashim in the forward line, Mohun Bagan started off cautiously in 4-4-2 formation realizing the limitation of the team as well as the adverse weather situation. But a couple of solo initiatives at times by Chidi, Ashim or Snehasis were not good enough to bother the Lajong defense. With Ishfaq and Barreto in the second half Mohunbagan failed to produce any fruitful result .Undoubtedly injury and weather can be major factors for such a mediocre performance for the Mariners.
It would be intersting to see what changes does the Bagan coach make . However, the squad and the think tanks must realize that the time is running out thick and fast before they could put some good performance so that millions of supporters could regain their hope to add any more feather in the trophy room. The team must give their best so that they bring back the smile to million of supporters .
