Dhaka: Ace Forward Bala Devi slammed a hat-trick helping India beat hosts Bangladesh 3-0 in the group B opener of the FIFA Women’s Olympic Qualification Round 1 at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Friday.
Bangladesh managed to keep their fort unhurt in the first half but seven minutes after change of ends with Bala broke the deadlock with a solo effort. Going past the defence line with her superb footwork she put the ball past Sabina in her second attempt.
The hardworking Indian forward made it 2-0 in the 70th minute with a glancing header off a Suprava corner that bounced off the hands of Sabina before crashing into the net.
In the stoppage time Bala Devi headed the third in the same fashion off a corner of Suprava.
Bangladesh will meet Uzbekistan in the second match on Sunday.
