Fabio Cannavaro, the world cup winning captain for Italy has emerged as the  most contested player in the auction for the icon players and coaches along with the foreign players that was held today in the Taj Hotel, Kolkata. He was roped in by the Siliguri franchise.

Cannavaro, with a base price of $800,000, was fiercely bid among the franchise and was finally sold at $830,000. The costliest player, however, was Hernan Crespo, former Argentinian and Chelsea midfielder. His base price itself was set at $840,000. But surprisingly enough, there were not many takers for him and he was sold at the base price to the Barasat franchise.

He is very excited to come to India and play. We all are too much excited. This is going to be hugely successful
