Tolgay Ozbey fined by IFA over his transfer dispute from East Bengal to Mohun Bagan

Kolkata : Tolgay Ozbey, the Australian, who played for East Bengal in the last two seasons, has been penalised by the Indian Football Association (IFA) which held him guilty for not adhering to the rules of transfer.

Tolgay Ozbey, this season, opted out of East Bengal and joined city rivals Mohun Bagan. However,  East Bengal claimed Tolgay taken an advance amount to stay with East Bengal for next season.

The IFA players-status committee, met many times to analyse the documents submitted by Tolgay and East Bengal. This time ( on 23rd July, 2012), IFA decided to support East Bengal’s claims. They found Tolgey guilty of not conforming to the rules governing the inter-club transfer in the state and asked the player to pay Rs.11 lakh — equivalent to a month’s salary — to East Bengal, apart from the fine of Rs.5 lakh.

The player was also asked to seek an apology in writing from his previous club.

  1. Tolgay Ozbay shudnt be allowed a release by East Bengal…..Its either play for EB or get ready for the suspension…..No space for Mohun Bagan….
