According to the latest I-League schedule released by AIFF, 5 of the ONGC matches will be hosted in Delhi.
This comes as a positive move for Indian football as I-League has been restricted only to Kolkata, Goa, Shillong, Pune, Gangtok and Mumbai, with no representation in Southern or Northern India. ONGC’s matches in Delhi might help in generating interest in Delhites who have shown great passion during India’s matches in Delhi. Now it remains to be seen whether the involvement of a PSU based club like ONGC can have any impact on I-League viewership in Delhi.
The following matches will held in Delhi as per the latest AIFF schedule –
26th October, 2012 – ONGC vs Prayag United
4th November, 2012 – ONGC vs Air India
9th November, 2012 – ONGC vs Mohun Bagan
16th November, 2012 – ONGC vs Dempo
8th December, 2012 – ONGC vs Sporting Club de Goa
