In a bid to improve its luck in the ongoing I-league, Salgaocar FC have released Philippines national football team striker Angel Guirado mid-season.
Angel was an important member of the Azkals who went up to the semis of the AFF Suzuki Cup 2012 and recently returned from the national duty. But as soon as he landed in Goa, he was asked to leave.
Salgaocar are deep in the relegation zone at 14th among as many teams after having played 11 rounds. They lack the firepower upfront and for the same reason, Sean Rooney was released earlier.
Salgaocar officials say that the management was unhappy with his below average performance and that he had been away for national duty for far too long.
The club is looking to sign Josimar Martins, a Brazillian striker.
