Club World Cup: Raja Casablanca blanks Auckland City FC Result, Highlights

FIFA Club World Cup 2013Moroccan club Raja Casablanca FC has beaten the New Zealand club Auckland City FC by 2-1 in the opening qualifier match of the FIFA Club World Cup 2013 today.

The Moroccan league champions started in aggressive mode when in the 7th minute of the game when the captain Moutaouali’s cross was volleyed just over the post by Adil.

Another possible assist by the captain was denied by an alert Auckland keeper Tamati Williams in the 22nd minute.

The Moroccan team playing in their own backyard were quite dominating but a shot from Roy Krishna of Auckland almost found the target in the 29th minute.

The deadlock was broken in the 39th minute when Ijaour slotted the ball home from inside the box with his left foot, placing it in the far corner.

The Fiji origin player Roy Krishna finally found the equalizer in the 63rd minute when a confusion followed by collision among two Moroccan defenders left the ball at the mercy of Krishna.

The home team continued to dominate the proceedings but despite their neat play and recurrent attack, they were denied the lead by alert defending.

Just when it seemed that the match would go to ET, a milieu in front of the goal and a subsequent rebound from Williams landed in front of Hafidi who made the most of it. Thus Raja Casablanca now sets a date with CF Monterreyof Mexico whom they meet on the 14th of December.
