The former Indian cricket team captain Saurav Ganguly may be approached by the AIFF to become the brand ambassador of the FIFA U17 2017 World Cup to be hosted by India.
The legendary left handed batsman who is deemed to be one of the most successful skippers to lead the Indian cricket team is known to be a football enthusiast himself. Earlier in an interview he had expressed optimism regarding the revival of football in the country and the importance of hosting the U17 World cup in India.
Saurav has earlier been the brand ambassador of I-league club Mohammedan Sporting and had taken the field in the black&white jersey in the Mohammedan SC Platinum Jubilee Cup. He was also rumored to be the part of now scrapped Premier League Soccer.
AIFF is banking on his interest in and association with Indian football to rope him as the brand ambassador for the U17 World Cup to be held in 5-6 cities in India in 2017.
