FIFA has handed Spanish giants Barcelona a two transfer window ban on buying or selling players. According to FIFA, Barcelona has violated rules of under-18 player transfer.
This was the result of a investigation by FIFA last year, which found Barcelona as well as Spanish football federation (RFEF) guilty as they broke multiple rules governing international player transfers and registration of foreign players. This involved a span of four years between 2009 and 2013.
Earlier in February 2013, FIFA had banned six of Barca’s youth foreign players who were then unable to participate in any competitive games.
However, Barca’s spokesperson was not perturbed and said that they have 90 days to reply and explain the process to FIFA.
It is also of importance that there is already a investigation going on on alleged irregularities in Neymar’s signing.
