Luis SuarezLuis Suarez has been banned by FIFA for any football related activities for next four months, including a nine match ban.

Fifa’s statement on Suárez said that the Uruguayan footballer has been  “Suspended for nine matches and banned for four months from any football-related activity”.

Luis Suarez got into trouble for biting Chellini in the FIFA World Cup 2014 game against Italy, where Uruguay won 1-0 to kick out the European giants out of the world cup.

Luis Suarez memeThis incident marked third instance where Suarez has been reported for biting an opponent. In the first instance he bit PSV Eindhoven’s Otman Bakkal while playing for Ajax, Netherlands in 2010. He was suspended for seven matches for that incident.

Then in 2013, while playing for Liverpool, he bit Branislav Ivanovic of Chelsea and was banned for 10 games. Now he repeated himself again in the highest stage.

Some might think, this ban by FIFA has been lenient as Suarez has been the culprit of this shameful act three times in last 4 years.

A four match ban also means that Liverpool  will miss his presence for many key games. He won’t be able to officially train with the club as well. How fit will he be when he comes back  remains a question.
