When you smash your club transfer record and splurge about £11 million mid-season on an international striker expecting him to save you from relegation, you expect him to at least give a good account of himself in the latter half of the season. Fulham signed on Kostas Mitroglou in January 2014 as Felix Magath tried to save his West London outfit from slipping out of the Premier League. The Greek striker who was once a target for the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Spurs couldn’t match Magath’s ridiculously high fitness standards and played for the reserves more often than the first team. With a solitary start and a couple of appearances off the bench, Mitroglou’s Fulham career which began with much fanfare has to go down just like the Cottagers eventually did; as one of the most disappointing signings of English football.
