With a stellar performance in the recently concluded AFC U16 2016 Qualifiers tournamnet, the FIFA U17 World Cup bound Indian football team is all set to have their Spanish sojourn.
The team was slated to participate in the AGS Cup in Spain, where in the first edition top U17 teams of the world participated. The AGS cup, however, stands cancelled. AIFF has done a commendable job of quickly rescheduling the tour to give enough match practice to the team.
India U16 football team is now set to play 6 matches in Spain against development teams of Spanish La Liga sides Villareal, Real Sociedad, FC Levante etc.
Earlier today, India thrashed much higher ranked Lebanon in the final group match at the AFC U16 Qualifiers in Iran. The team started their domination early on and got the first goal in the 28th minute through Suresh. The lead was doubled by Suresh in the 71st minute.
All hell broke loose for Lebanon in the last 10 minutes of the game where 4 goals were pumped, completing the demolition. The team had earlier prepared in Germany for 6 weeks, playing respectable German sides.
