The first ever (and probably the last?) AIFF International Youth Cup 2016 will be held at Tilak Maidan Goa from 15th May onwards. The AIFF needs to be commended for arranging a fairly strong ensemble of teams. The participating teams are: India, Tanzania, USA, Malaysia and South Korea.

The tournament will be played in a round robin format where each team gets to play every other team once, ensuring at least 4 matches for all the participating sides. The table toppers will enter the final to be held on May 26th. The 3rd and 4th placed teams will have a 3rd place play-off.

The AIFF International Youth Cup schedule is given below along with the kick-off time in Indian Standard Time. Note that all the matches will be played at the Tilak Maidan, Goa.

There will be those obvious Twitter feeds by @AIFFmedia and their unbiased reports on how we are playing like Barca in the wins and have been unfortunate to concede goals against the run of play in the losses. Good luck!

Here are some mandator quotes that make a report look respectable. This one is from Mr. Kushal Das, the general secretary of the AIFF.

“The whole purpose of the AIFF Youth Cup is to get a sense of how the U-17 World Cup is shaping up. The AIFF has facilitated a number of exposure tours for them in the past few months and we will continue to do so. The Tournament will provide us further clarity of what we need to improve further.” Kushal Das, AIFF Gen Secy
