Anton and Aleksei Miranchuk the 22 year old identical twins were named in Russia’s final squad for the 2018 FIFA Wolrd Cup. Aleksey is a attacking midfielder while Anton plays as a central midfielder. The two brothers were an integral part of Lokomotiv Moscow’s Russian Premier League Vicotry and were deservedly rewarded with places in the World Cup squad.

Anton and Aleksei both started their youth career at Spartak Moscow after leaving their home town of Slavyansk-na-Kubani but were soon left out of the club due to their poor physical abilities, They later joined Locomotiv Moscow and have made their way into the team as regulars.

Aleksei broke into the team earlier during 2012-13  at and age of 17 much earlier than his brother Anton. He has been a regular part of Lokomotiv Moscow over the last 3 years. He has won 2 Russian Cups 1 Russian PL and was also names best U-21 player in the Russian League during the 2013-14 season. This season he scored 8 goals and made 11 assist.

Anton struggled to make it to the team compared to his brother, he made a small substitute appearence during 2013-14 season but couldn’t manage to make it to the senior team again for years. He had a brief spell on loan at Estonian Club Levadia Tallinn scoring 15 goals and making 11 assists in over 35 games. After his spell at Estonia Anton returned to Lokomotiv Moscow establishing himself as regular making 41 appearances scoring 5 goals and making 8 assists this season.

Both Miranchuk Brothers played a major part in Lokomotiv Moscow’s Russian Premier League victory and will hope to continue their form at the World Cup
