Indian U15’s run in Dallas Cup finally ended with a 3 – 4 loss against FC Golden State. In a thrilling game against an opponent who proved to be one of the toughest they have faced so far, the Indian team came up with a spirited fight. Things started badly when the Indian boys conceded a penalty in the initial part of the game, which helped Golden State take 1-0 lead. The first half saw good attacking game from both sides and ended with 3-2 in favor of Golden State. Alen Deory and Jimmy Maibam were the scorers for India in the 1st Half.

With a goal down, India U15 started the 2nd half with scoring intentions and managed to equalize the score from Muana, who scored his 4th goal of the tournament in as many matches. The game was going towards the end with scores locked at 3-3. However, with few minutes to spare, Golden State took advantage of a mistake in Indian defense and scored the heartbreaking goal to make it 4-3 in favor of Golden State.

With this loss, Indian boys are out of Dallas cup. However, Indian performances have been good in this tournament. They topped a group which had two former Dallas cup U15 champions. In the four games they played, they won twice and lost twice. They exhibited good competitiveness as in both the loses they lost by only one goal. It is worth saying the Indian team missed two first team regulars due to injuries – Uttam Rai, the main striker, who has been scoring the bulk of goals in most of the matches they had played earlier and Supratim, the goalkeeper. Apart from Muana (4 goals), the other scorers from this team were – Alen Deory (2 goals), Paul Sime (2 goals – He is not an Indian, but an IMG academy cadet, was in the team as we had less number of player than required to register), Harmanjot Singh (1 goal) and Jimmy Maibam (1 goal).

Now the team has to focus on their next challenge – The AFC U16 Championship, 2012 Qualifiers while will be held in September, 2011. For now, they will join the U-16 camp in India, from where the final squad will be selected. It can be expected that this U-16 squad will have most of these IMG trained boys and thus, the team will be expected to qualify from their group which has – Bahrain, Kyrgyztan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.

  2. Don, I don’t agree with you…See if a team wins a world cup and when they come back after 4 years, they have a very different team many times..but dont we call them previous champions? Its the team which matters.

  3. I don’t mean to be a downer, but you realize that the Santa Clara and Sockers teams you are playing are not the previous champions right? Saying that you are playing the 2008 and 2009 champions is misleading, and actually wrong, because the teams you are playing were not the champions, it was other teams from those clubs. Totally different teams.
